Ede Poly management suspends 2022 Students’ union election indefinitely

Ede Poly

As conveyed in a memo released and signed by the Dean Students’ Affairs, Dr Omotosho O. S. Jnr dated 25th March and was exclusively sent to Naijaray. The school management has suspended the Students’ Union Leadership election indefinitely for the 2020/2021 session following the crisis that ensued from Presidential aspirants Kaybright and Edward.

Yesterday’s crisis between the two parties had some students sustain injuries, which prompted the indefinite suspension.

“When the ban on politics was lifted on 21st March 2022 by ISEC, everybody was hoping for a violent free election until two presidential aspirants Akeem Kabiru Olawale (Kaybright) HV20200205661 and Edward Ayodeji Micheal (Edward) HC20200201522 commenced their campaigns on 24th March 2022. The two groups clashed, and violence erupted, leading to serious injuries by many students. A cutlass wielding supporter was cut after using the dagger to injure one student, and another student with a gun was apprehended.”

“Based on the above, the Management reviewed the security challenges in Federal Polytechnic Ede campuses and Ede community and took the following decisions:

1. The 2021/2022 SUL Election is suspended until further notice, i.e. when the security challenges improve to prevent the loss of lives and properties.

2. The memo partly read the arrested students involved in criminal activities should be investigated”.

Unruly behavior; reason behind Rector’s Cup indefinite suspension

2020/2021 session Rector’s Cup Competition has been suspended indefinitely following the display of indiscipline by spectators watching a quarterfinal match between the Accountancy and Civil Engineering departments.

Naijaray had gathered a report that some spectators had trooped onto the football pitch earlier today to oppose a supposed offside ruling after Accountancy had found the back of the net of their Civil Engineering counterparts in a match postponed yesterday until today.
This is to inform members of the Polytechnic community particularly students that the Rector’s Cup Competition for the year 2022 has been suspended indefinitely due to unruly behaviours and violence perpetrated by students of some departments“, partly read a memo signed by Chief O. O. Oni.
